| Annual Stonewall Heritage Gala |
The annual Stonewall Heritage Gala is the signature fundraiser of the year for our friends at the Stonewall Library & Archives. This year they are honoring the gay pioneer Dr. Frank Kameny. A founder of the Mattachine Society, Dr. Kameny was one of the first gay activists in the country, picketing the White House in 1965, and helping convince the APA to remove homosexuality from its list of mental disorders.
The Gala will be held on Saturday, November 18 at the Ft. Lauderdale Beach Community Center. Tickets are $100 and are available at the library or by phone order at 954-763-8565. Advanced tickets sales are going well, and we expect approximately 300 affluent members of the gay community to attend. In addition to ticket sales, they have a live and silent auction to raise operating funds.
If any of the authors or visual artists reading this would like to donate a copy of their book or piece of their work, it would be greatly appreciated. Click donation form for an application. You can drop the work off at the library. Be sure to include your business cards for the sponsors table.
