Angela Farinelli, October 2006

Angela Farinelli's "Expressions" Exhibit Opens Monday

ArtsUnited will feature paintings by local artist Angela Farinelli in a solo exhibit entitled "Expressions" from October 2 through 31, 2006 at the Stonewall Library and Archives, 1717 N. Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. The exhibit opens with a reception to meet the artist from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 2nd.

Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Angela's family moved to Florida in 1972 when she was 11 years old. Raised mainly in West Palm Beach, she now calls Oakland Park her home. Her interest in art started from an early age. As a young child, she painted animals, landscapes and cartoons. Her family always encouraged Angela to pursue her interest in art. Ms. Farinelli attended Palm Beach Community College and completed her Associate's Degree in Graphic Design.

"Now I enjoy painting the human figure among other variety of subjects, she says, "my work is versatile and appeals to both men and women, gay or straight." Angela's artwork has been on exhibit at the Oakland Park Art Festival, Blue Moon Lounge, Art Expressions Gallery, "Gallery of The Unknown Artist" in Hollywood, and many exhibits by ArtsUnited. "Original artwork is what a collector will receive from me, never a print," says Angela.

The mediums she uses are acrylics, pencil and colored markers. Angela loves the use of vibrant colors and bold lines. Oranges, reds, blues, she uses them all. Her art is definitely for the open-minded person who likes strong colored "in your face art." Some of her most popular paintings are of "cowboys and cowgirls." Angela painted her first cowboy painting in 1987.

What makes her cowboy paintings unique is that they have mystery to them, because their eyes are not shown, they are in shadow. They are sexy cowboys and girls with a secret! Angela has been commissioned to paint more cowboys now than ever thanks to the movie, "Brokeback Mountain." "It's made cowboys very popular!"

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. For more information, go online to http://artsunitedonline.org or call 954-530-2723.
