Leonard Paoletti, May 2007
ArtsUnited Features Artist Leonard Paoletti in Solo Exhibit

ArtsUnited is pleased to feature the paintings of local artist Leonard Paoeletti in a solo exhibit at the Stonewall Library and archives from May 7 through June 2, 2007. The library is located at 1717 N. Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. The exhibit opens with a recepton to meet the artist from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on May 7th.

Len Paoletti began painting landscapes while living in Provincetown, MA gack in the 70's. As the social and cultural climate began to change with the expanding gay tourist presence, Paoletti's subject matter changed along with it.

Len was one of the first to document the growing gay community in his art. At the same time, he began painting in perhaps the last of the great taboo genres, the male nude. Paoletti had inadvertently become a pioneer and iconoclast simply by painting the life he saw around him. This exceptional talent now resides in South Florida.

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served at the reception. Funding for this exhibit is provided by Comcast and ArtsUnited.
