This year's United & Proud Exhibit will be on display from June 1- 27, 2008 at Gallery Six, Broward County Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. The opening reception will be on Wednesday, June 4th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Admission will be free.
This is an ArtsUnited members only exhibition, and Membership Applications are available by clicking the Call for Artists link here or at the left. Entries are not limited to a theme, but rather the exhibition is designed to showcase local gay and lesbian artists to the general public. Works will be judged for ribbons, but submissions will not be juried for acceptance or rejection. Prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, People's Choice and Best of Class for Photography, Painting, 3-D/Mixed Media, and Drawing/Print.
The exhibit will be on display in concurrence with the Stonewall Library & Archive's new exhibit, "Out of the Shadows: Gay America from Kinsey to Stonewall" sponsored by Comcast funded in part by the Broward Cultural Council. This year's reception is hosted by Stonewall Library & Archives.
Over 400 people attended last year's reception, and thousands viewed the exhibit during the month. There will be significant press coverage of the opening and exhibit as well.
