Art Books for Children
February 1 Through February 20, 2010
"Artbooks for the Children" is a commmunity service/outreach program organized by the art non-profit organization, ArtsUnited. Simply stated, ArtsUnited collects art books of all disciplines and donates them to children's facilities throughout Broward County to promote the arts and arts education.
ArtsUnited will coordinate and collect artbooks of all disciplines, as well as cash donations from our members and the public through participating sponsors and designated drop off locations. The cash donations and sponsorship funds will be used used to purchase additional books and administer and promote the program.
Each Broward County Commissioner will be asked to select a children's organization in his or her district as a recipient of the book donations. On February 20th, at ArtsUnited's ArtExplosion Finale at the Broward Center Amaturo Theatre, the final collection will be announced and presented to the Commissioners.
I am honored to serve as this year’s Honorary Chair of ArtsUnited’s Art Books for the Children program. As the next Mayor of Broward County, I am pleased to support this worthwhile program to introduce the arts and arts education to the youngest of our community’s members. -
