Reach for It 2 by Teresa Korber

ArtsUnited presents two twenty-something talents, Teresa Korber and Silas Thebert, at the George Hesteer Gallery of Stonewall Library Museum Archive August 2 through 27, 2010. Come meet these talented young artists and view their unique perspective of the human condition at the Opening Reception on Monday, August 2 from 6:30 to 8:00pm. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Stonewall Library is located at 1300 East Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304.

ArtsUnited presents a Group Photo Exhibit "Black White" at the George Hester Gallery of the Stonewall Library Museum Archives from July 5 through 30 , 2010. "Black White" is the best of ArtsUnited members' black and white photographic images. A reception to meet the photographers will be held Monday, July 5th from 6:30 to 8pm. Both the reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

Art Intake is July 3, 10am-1pm
Art pick up is July 31, 10am - 1pm

ArtsUnited presents the mixed media collage work of artists Kenneth Moylan and Gerard Delany.
Both artists have earned numerous awards including ArtsUnited “Best of Class, Mixed Media”
awards; Moylan for United & Proud in 2009, and Delany at ArtExplosion 2010.

A selection of Moylan’s and Delaney’s work will be on display through May 28 
at the George Hester Gallery of Stonewall Library Museum Archives,
1300 East Sunrise Blvd. Fort Lauderdale. The Opening Reception to meet
the artists will be held Monday, May 3, from 6:30- 8pm. FREE and open to the public.

 

TutuVelosa

Tuta Veloso was born in May 1969, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Since childhood Tuta has connected with arts reciting poetry in first grade and acting in children’s theater and teaching Lambada dance in his teens around his hometown. At age of 18, he moved to the capital city of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, to study art restoration. To pay for his studies he worked with fashion designers where he helped photographers create catalogs for the fashion industry. 

His own awakening as a photographer was in august of 2001 after moving to the United States and shooting the twin towers in NYC. That photo was the beginning of his passion. Influenced by such artists as Sebastião Salgado, Marcos Prado, William Wegman, and Salvador Dali, Tuta has continued to hone his craft and has being shown his art work at Storks Bakery, 101 art  Gallery, Art Expression Gallery, Stonewall library, The Firm Fitness Center and in soon at the South Point Gallery in south beach, and at the new art Gallery XO. He recently won the Peoples Choice Award at last year’s United & Proud art exhibition for his photograph "Muscle Toy"  and has been invited to show in Madrid/Spain next April.

ArtsUnited is pleased to present artist Ernesto Masis at the George Hester Gallery at Stonewall Library & Archive from January 4-29, 2010.

A native of Costa Rica, Masis has been  painting since an early age. His work often incorporates traditional elements of Hispanic culture, and explores the crossing lines of our modern living and  spiritual quest. Recipient of the first place prize in painting in the 2008 United and Proud show and first place in drawing in the 2009 ArtExplosion Art Festival, Masis has established his studio in the city of Fort Lauderdale. 

Meet the artist at an artist reception on Monday, January 4, from 6:30-8pm with food graciously provided by Sublime Restaurant. Stonewall Library & Archives is located at 1300 East Sunrise Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

"Emma Underwater" by Mary Schilpp

Through an arrangement made with Stonewall Library & Archives, ArtsUnited curates 8 month long art exhibits in the George M. Hester Gallery in the library at 1300 East Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Each year, ArtsUnited exhibits 4 ArtsUnited group exhibits and 4 solo exhibits of those artists that win Best of Show, Best of Class, or People's Choice awards at either the ArtExplosion or United and Proud exhibits. Preference is given to Best of Show and People's Choice winners that have not shown in the gallery in the past two years. The Group shows are for ArtsUnited members only, and the themes are announced at least two months prior to art intake.

ArtsUnited and Women In Network present "It's a Girl Thing: Images by Women" at the George Hester Gallery at the Stonewall Library and Archives from December 5 to 31, 2009. A reception to meet the artists will be held December 7, from 6:30 to 8pm.  "It's a Girl Thing" is a glimpse of the female perspective through painting, photography, mixed media and three dimensional artwork by members of ArtsUnited and Women In Network (WIN).
