ArtExplosion International LGBT Arts Festival is two weeks of art, film, music, dance, theatre, literature, comedy and cabaret by gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender artists and performers. Over the years, ArtExplosion has grown from a one night event to a two week festival that has featured such talent as Lilly Tomlin, Marga Gomez, The Kinsey Sicks, The Gay Mafia, Greg Walloch, Levi Kries, Eric Himan, Cashetta, Desmond Child, and Lea DeLaria just to name a few.Presented by the arts group ArtsUnited, Art Explosion 10 celebrates ten years as one of the largest art festivals of its kind in the country, with over 30 different programs during the two-week period at venues across South Florida. Highlights of the festival include comic legend Kate Clinton, music sensation Matt Albers, an exhibit on the Harlem Renaissance, and a special pre-festival performance by Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. The festival kicks off February 6 at ArtServe Gallery with the opening reception of one of the largest juried art shows by LGBT artists. The theme of the opening night event is "Carnaval!" in celebration of this year's spotlight country, Brazil. Gay and lesbian artists and performers from Brazil will be highlighted that night and throughout the festival. The festival concludes February 20, with legendary comedian Kate Clinton at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. In between are two weeks of art exhibits, films, theater, and musical performances.
